The Infant and Child Laboratory at the Institute of Language Sciences, Shanghai International Studies University, equipped with Tobii Pro Fusion portable eye tracker, primarily conducts research related to language acquisition. Our researchers adopt experimental methods combined with neuroscience techniques to investigate children’s acquisition of phonetics, vocabularies, syntax and pragmatics. Most recently, the lab is collaborating with local kindergartens, early childhood education centres and early learning product development companies to explore how preschool children learn nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, logical connectives and second language vocabulary.
