The Smart Learning Laboratory conducts scientific research in the fields of language data and smart teaching. Utilizing multi-modal data collection devices, the laboratory and smart learning spaces will employ technologies such as data mining and natural language processing, combined with methodologies from linguistics, artificial intelligence, and phonetics, to conduct scientific, multidimensional analyses of diverse teaching groups and instructional methods. This approach aims to enhance teaching quality and efficiency while developing a new model of smart education that reflects the distinctive characteristics of Shanghai International Studies University.

The laboratory and learning spaces will focus on the intelligent transformation of educational methods, integrating corpora, linguistics, translation studies, and artificial intelligence; building a knowledge system specific to the context of Shanghai International Studies University; establishing a comprehensive platform of facilities and equipment for foundational teaching and learning; breaking away from traditional classroom models to successfully create a new teaching model centered on learning communities; eliminating silos in physical and digital resources to connect different spaces and resources, thereby establishing a complete interactive space for smart learning and education that integrates the functions of all spaces and resources; Develop intelligent learning diagnostic analysis models and platforms; establish a teaching speech corpus and promote the development of multi-modal corpora.
