Lecture Title

Exploring Interdisciplinary Approaches to Language Research: The Integration of Theory and Empirical Evidence

Lecture Abstract

In the face of various language-related issues arising from technological innovation, cultural development, and everyday life—especially amid the rapid advancement of generative artificial intelligence—interdisciplinary language research has become a focal topic. Against this backdrop, this lecture, after discussing the essence of interdisciplinary language research, explores its pathways and methods. Interdisciplinary language research can be characterized as “employing methods and tools from other disciplines to investigate language and reveal its distinct essential features.” The theoretical exploration of interdisciplinary language research needs to be integrated with empirical evidence to undergo continuous refinement and improvement. Interdisciplinary language research holds broad prospects for future development.
